Designs for jewelry

1770 - 1770

Twenty-two sheets with 127 jewellery designs on twenty-three pages, circa 1770, by L. Vander Cruycen. Pen and ink wash on paper, all sheets are watermarked; the various watermarks are recorded for paper used in the later 18th century. On each sheet various designs of jewellery are mixed on a single page. The designs are carefully arranged in a decorative manner, and each page is framed by a thin black line. The designs comprise a large range of jewels among which a stomacher, flower brooches, buckles, frames for miniature portraits, buttons, covers for snuffboxes, order insignias and handles for swords.
