Terracotta model for an ampoule tray

The terracotta model for an ampoule tray was excavated in 1989 in an embankment layer under the floor in the front house of No 17 Pelgrimstraat in Antwerp. At the top it depicted a chalice with a host. The chalice is flanked by two kneeling putti: on the left with a censer and on the right with a torch and an altar bell. On the left and right are two more putti: on the left a putto, whose head is missing, carrying a missal with the monogram IHS on it, and on the right a putto carrying two ampoules on a saucer. The lower part of the ampoule tray and the bottom plate are missing. No silver copy of this model is known to date.
