Point cut diamond

The first known cutting style of a diamond was the point cut. Its fashioning involved polishing the facets to mimic the faces of the octahedron, improving the symmetry and transparency of crystals. The exact date of its introduction is not known; however, most accounts agree that it emerged near the end of the 14th century.
