Brooch

1790 - 1800

Love and friendship have always been popular themes in art. In the Victorian period these were celebrated in a special way, with so-called hair jewelry. Locks of hair of loved ones were turned into veritable little artworks which took the form of brooches, chains and the like. Receiving and wearing a lock of hair was a sign of a deep bond between two people.
