Sugar and spoon stand

1750 - 1800

Initially sugar was always added to coffee, tea and chocolate. Until the seventeenth century it was still a luxury product often presented in richly decorated silver objects like this sugar and spoon stand. Lumps of sugar candy were delayed on the little dish underneath, while the top part could be used for teaspoons.
