This fireback is dated 1665 in a cartouche at the bottom and bears the initials HH/S. A privately-owned fireback with the same border, date and initials is illustrated in W. Elling, Ofen- und Kaminplatten, Hamaland-Museum, Vreden, 1992, no. 6/3.
