Design for the front of hotel van de Werve, Kipdorp Antwerp

1781 - 1783

It was Philippe-Louis van de Werve (1748-1834) who commissioned this large town house. A century later, in 1880, his grandson Henri Marie van de Werve (1844-1924) had the walls of the grand salon embellished with oil paintings by Godfried Guffens depicting illustrious scenes from the family history. In 1956 the hotel van de Werve was demolished.
