Huycke, David

1967

Belgian goldsmith and silversmith. Born in Sint-Niklaas in 1967. From 1985 to 1989 he studied jewellery design and goldsmith and silversmith arts at the Sint-Lucaspaviljoen, the current Departement Audiovisuele en Beeldende Kunst of the Karel de Grote Hogeschool in Antwerp. From 1989 to 1990 he followed a course at the same school to perfect his silversmith art and in 1990 a post-graduate course in decorative techniques at the vocational school in Schoonhoven (The Netherlands). He received many honours, such as the 'Provincial Artistic Crafts Prize' of the Province of East Flanders (1990), the 'Preis der Talentbörse Handwerk (Munich, 1992) and the Award Henry Van de Velde for Young Talent in 1994. In 1996 he carried out the first Sterckshof Commission. David Huycke has set up his workshop in Sint-Niklaas.
