Pitcher
1656 - 1657
A mermaid, bent over backward and supported by a snake, makes up the handle. A satyr's masque forms the spout. The sides are decorated with a Sea triumph freeze. The rim of the foot has an English heraldic emblem that has been engraved at a later date: a fist with an arrowhead on a bottom line. This ewer goes with the basin (present whereabouts unknown) that it was auctioned with in Geneva, 1976. The jug was originally gilded.
