Brooch

A new trend emerged in the art-deco style at the Exposition de Bijouterie, Joaillerie et Orfèvrerie at the Palais Galliera in Paris in 1929. The colourfulness of the 1920s increasingly gave way to monochrome ‘white jewellery’ in platinum, set with diamonds in a variety of cuts. This brooch is a fine example of that, as are the clips made by two leading Belgian jewellery houses, Wolfers Frères and Massaux, which you will have seen in the Trading Room. Art-deco jewellery was made in Belgium until the end of the 1940s.
